++ Health Secretary José Ángel Córdova Villalobos said health officials have identified the swine influenza virus that has caused at least 20 deaths, although other sources gave a much higher death toll.

Córdova Villalobos said the most effective way to combat the virus is not with a vaccine but with specific anti-viral medications… He said that eating pork products does not carry with it the risk of virus contagion.

++ The Federal District government said that all large events in Mexico City would be cancelled this weekend, although economic activities would not be suspended…

++ Conaculta said all cultural activities planned this Friday were cancelled… Museums and cultural centers that are part of the National Fine Arts Institute, the National Anthropology and History Museum and the National Council for Culture and the Arts, would be closed over the weekend.

++ State of Mexico government confirmed that 44 cases of swine flu were reported in that state, with three deaths, two in Toluca and one in Atizapán. To continue click here
